Miami International Airport ("MIA" Airport Code) is approximately 60 Miles north of Key Largo and takes about 1 Hr. 15 minutes to
drive … depending on time of day and rush hour traffic of course. This is the closest airport to the Florida Keys.
Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport ("FLL" Airport Code) is approximately 90 miles north of Key Largo and takes about 1 Hr. 55
minutes to drive…depending on time of day and rush hour traffic! The Ft. Lauderdale Airport is a little further north of us, but is very nice,
has lots of easily negotiated parking, very clean, and much smaller than the Miami Airport.
Take the LeJeune Road exit out of the airport, and then follow signs for the Florida Turnpike South towards Key West. If you are coming
from the Miami vicinity, ask how to get out west to the Florida Turnpike. You will most likely be given directions to 836 West, then to the Florida Turnpike South.
Take 595 West to the Florida Turnpike South towards Miami and the Florida Keys. DO NOT attempt to travel the scenic route down US-1!! It
sounds like a nice idea, but it will take you ALL DAY to get here that way!
Take I-75 South / Alligator Alley East to the Miami exit, and then go south to the Florida Turnpike. Ft. Myers is approximately 204 miles from Key Largo and will take about 3 Hrs. 30 minutes to drive.
The Florida Turnpike ends at US-1 in Florida City, the last town on the mainland. Follow US-1 south into the Florida Keys. Key Largo is located at the top of the Florida Keys, and is
about 20 miles south of Florida City. Take US-1 to Mile Marker 100 (MM 100). Since there are no exits off of US-1, we refer to things on "the stretch" by what mile marker they are located.
The Mile Markers are indicated by a rectangular green and white highway sign on the side of the road.
Go to Mile Marker (MM) 100 and turn left (after the Holiday Inn) at the Citgo gas station on Laguna Avenue. Turn left at the four-way stop sign onto Caribbean Drive. Go 3-4 blocks, pass the Marina
Del Mar Resort, and turn left into the Ocean Divers big gravel parking lot. We share their parking lot, so take the second left at the sign for the entrance to Scuba-Do. Check in right at the boat.
If you are planning on flying into one of our airports and do NOT wish to rent a car, the Keys Shuttle offers door to door airport shuttle service to and from the Keys to the Miami
and the Ft. Lauderdale airports in a clean and comfortable 15-passenger van. But, they carry a max of seven passengers at a time for your comfort. They leave five times a day,
seven days a week. Call 888-765-9997 or visit their website at
