Fun Diving in Lazarus Island, Singapore
15 minutes by fast boat from south pier marina centre, this reef was affected by the closure of the channel between St. John’s and Lazarus Islands. The rich reef flat still has a variety of hard and soft corals. There is also a sandy shore with Common sea stars (not so common anymore on our shores) and other interesting marine life.
Lazarus Island is part of a group of islets collectively known as Singapore’s Southern Islands. The island has lush greenery as well as a sandy beach forming a bay on one side. Relatively calm waters fills the bay where you can immerse yourself in the sun, go for a swim or partake in some water sports. The waters in lazarus islands’ bay is relative clear on some days, you can enjoy a good snorkelling session. The pristine coast on Lazarus islands beat any beach on the main Singapore islands or the highly commercialised beaches on Sentosa. Lazarus island also has a well maintained jetty where you can simply step onto the island without getting yourself wet. There are currently no direct ferry to the island and the only way you can access the island directly is by a private boat.
