The Knowledge Development section of PADI Advanced Freediver course consists of independent learning using PADI Freediver Touch.
Additionally, with your instructor you will learn O2 and CO2 static and dynamic tables, advanced relaxation techniques, refining your Frenzel equalization and a few more advanced freediving techniques.
Confined water dives
All our confined water dives are conducted in the shallow water along a lengthy patch of sandy bottom of our house reef, located in the shielded bay. The pool like conditions of the confined water area will provide a comfortable and safe environment for the skills development, while being in the sea will better prepare you for the open water training sessions.
You will practice using CO2 static and dynamic tables as well as advanced relaxation and rescue techniques. Also, our instructor will help you to refine your DYN technique and introduce you to the purest freediving technique – Dynamic No Fins!
Open Water Training Dives
Go deeper, stay longer, experience free fall!
Advanced Freediver course includes some seriously fun training.
On the first training session, we will practice warm ups, known as the hangs, refine your free immersion and constant weight techniques and eventually proceed to the maximum depth of 16 meters/50 feet.
On the second freediving session, you will practice constant weight freediving technique to the maximum depth of 24 meters/75 feet, experience the joy of free fall, and perform a rescue of a freediver who simulates blackout at 10 meters/30 feet.
Having completed PADI Advanced Freediver course, you are now not only qualified to dive to 24 meters with a buddy but also have all the tools necessary to progress with your further training!
After the course, you can join our regular confined or open water training sessions to improve your skills and get more confidence. We can also organize freediving fun dives at the best dive sites of Tioman!

No. It’s optional to purchase transport & accommodation from us.
Theory will be via PADI e-Learning, self study at home.
Confined session will be conducted on the island, unless stated otherwise.
Some swimming ability is required. You need to have basic swim skills and be able to comfortably maintain yourself in the water. Your PADI Instructor will assess this by having you swim 300 metres/yards in mask, fins and snorkel. There is no time limit for the swim test, so you can go at your own pace.
The performance requirements are as follows:
- Theory exam score: 75+
- Static: 2 minute 30 seconds
- Dynamic: 50 meters
- Depth: 20 meters constant weight
Yes absolutely. One option is to freedive in contact lenses. If you are not a contact lens wearer then a prescription mask is a great option.
Some dive centers have prescription masks available but it can be difficult to hire one that matches your eyesight requirements exactly so it’s a good idea to invest in one of your own. If you are long sighted (have difficulty reading but are okay with distances), then you can buy prescription stickers that you apply to the lower section of a regular mask – much like wearing reading glasses.
Yes, of course, we will be happy to do EFR course with you. It will make sense to read the theory in advance because then we will only need to complete the practical part of the EFR, which takes about half of the day, about 4-5 hours.
We are very flexible.
If you are short of time, we can complete the course over 2 weekends.
If you don’t feel like coming to Tioman twice, you can complete the confined water sessions in a pool and come to Tioman to finish the open water training.
Please, get in touch with us and we will recommend a solution which will work best for you!
